Irene Hwang

Before establishing Constructing Communication with partners Martin Lorenz and Lupi Asensio, Irene worked for four years as an architecture editor at Actar Publishers in Barcelona. Her primary projects included the VERB Series, Desert America, and an upcoming investigation on housing. She received a Masters of Architecture (MArch I) from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor Degree in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania.

Irene has worked in the architectural offices of Rafael Moneo (ESP), Rojo Fernandez-Shaw (ESP), Brand Allen (SF) and RHA Limited (HK). She continues to practice architecture in parallel to her work in Constructing Communication.

As an editor and writer specializing in architecture publications, Irene has been published in both the US and EU. Her editorial collaborations have included work with architects worldwide. Most recently, Irene co-curated the inaugural exhibition of the new Design Museum of Barcelona (DHUB) and is currently co-editing the museumÕs first major publication.

Irene has been a guest professor as the International University of Catalonia and presently teaches in the undergraduate program at the ELISAVA (BCN). She is a faculty member of the Master program in Architecture and Urban Culture at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC). She has lectured at the Harvard GSD (Fall 2007) and at the UPC in Barcelona.

Martin Lorenz

Co-founder of Constructing Communication, Martin is also head of TwoPoints.net with Lupi Asensio. Having studied in Germany and in Holland at The Hague, Martin has been the recipient of various design prizes (such as the Art Directors Club Germany Gold, Laus Gold medal) and his work has been published extensively in such publications as Metropolis, IdN, GQ, and Idea Magazine (Japan). He is author of The One Weekend Book Series (Actar 2005) and has completed work for Vodafone, the City of Barcelona, Warner Music, Universal Music, Mercedes, and Volkswagen, among others.

Widely respected as an illustrator and graphic designer specializing in the creation of visual systems, Martin has taught and lectured in Spain, Holland and Germany. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in design research at the University of Fine Arts in Barcelona.

Lupi Asensio

Co-founder of TwoPoints.net with Martin Lorenz, Lupi is also a founding partner of Constructing Communication. With a degree in Fine Arts from the Universidad de Barcelona (UB), Lupi has studied in the KABK at the Hague in Holland and concentrated in Typography studies at the FH at the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt, Germany, and completed post-graduate studies in visual communication and film studies at the University of Art and Design in Offenbach, Germany.

Lupi has taught typography and visual communication in several universities (IDEP, ESDI among others) and has been the academic director of the Masters Design Program at the ELISAVA, responsible for courses in typography, visual communication, graphic narration, and editorial design. She is a doctoral candidate in Design at the University of Barcelona.
